Why a shooting experience suits a stag or hen party

A stag or hen party should bring people together, surprise them and stay in the memory. Shooting sports do exactly that: concentration, a little adrenaline and a fair competition everyone can join — regardless of prior experience. Because safety comes first, the programme is clearly structured and professionally supervised.

Planning: how to prepare the stag or hen party

A stag or hen party at the Zerbst shooting sports centre is requested with a preferred date and group size; for groups of eight or more we put together a dedicated programme. Enquire about the date early, as Saturdays are arranged individually and are in demand with groups from Berlin, Leipzig and Magdeburg. Friday evenings from 6 pm to 9 pm work well because the ApexLounge is already open from 5 pm.

Let the group know three things in advance: everyone brings their ID card or passport, no alcohol is drunk until the shooting is over, and closed shoes are compulsory. If you want to keep the surprise for the bride or groom a secret, agree the programme and awards ceremony with us. A voucher is a good option if the group is giving the experience as a gift and choosing the date later.

  • Request a preferred date and an alternative
  • State the group size and approximate age of the participants
  • ID cards or passports for all participants
  • Plan for sobriety until the shooting is over
  • Closed shoes, comfortable clothing
  • Wind-down: bar restaurant, ApexLounge or both

The competition: formats for the group

After the briefing, the group shoots with several rental guns, from the rimfire .22 pistol to the long gun, including models from Glock, CZ, Heckler & Koch and Walther. On request this becomes a competition with individual and team scoring and precision, timed and duel challenges, as we also offer for team building. The electronic target scoring makes every shot instantly visible to everyone.

A popular choice is the team round in which the group competes against the bride or groom, or the Mantis X10 shot analysis, which shows who holds steadiest. The awards ceremony closes the shooting part; the place of honour is usually reserved. Those who wish can take their targets home, a keepsake that is later passed around at the wedding.

03

What the day feels like

The group arrives together, parks for free in front of the centre and is welcomed by the range officer. The briefing is serious and focused; afterwards it becomes quieter than many expect: hearing protection on, first shot, a quick glance at the target display. The air-conditioned hall and the extraction system make sure that even participants with no experience at all feel at ease.

After the last shot the tension eases, the targets are compared, and by the awards ceremony at the latest the mood is exactly what you want for a stag or hen party. Then, without changing venue, you move on to the bar restaurant or the ApexLounge, where the evening continues over cocktails, whisky or a shared meal.

04

Large groups, mixed groups and non-shooters

We split larger groups into rotations: while one part shoots on the five lanes, the other waits in the bar restaurant, which seats up to 150 guests. That way nobody misses out and every participant receives the attention of a licensed range officer. Mixed groups of men and women are common, and prior experience plays no part.

Those who prefer not to shoot can still join in and wait in the bar restaurant or, from the age of 21, in the ApexLounge. Please note that the lounge has a minimum age of 21 and a smart casual dress code. For groups with younger participants, the bar restaurant is the right place to wind down; there is no age limit there beyond the one for shooting.

05

Arriving by train and from the major cities

Zerbst railway station is right next door – a two-minute walk of the shooting sports centre, so arriving by train is the simplest solution when the evening involves celebrating and nobody should drive. From Magdeburg it is around 30 minutes by car, from Dessau-Roßlau 25, from Halle 55, from Leipzig 60, from Berlin 90 and from Potsdam 95 minutes.

If you would like to spend the night in Zerbst, tell us the number of people and we will arrange accommodation in and around Zerbst. All travel details can be found under Contact and directions.
